The world leader in cross-border payments and currency transfers just launched its app in Trinidad and Tobago and customers in the country can now send money to friends and family in over 200 countries including the United States and Canada.
Western Union’s mobile app will make it possible for WU users to send money through the app and pay at any WU agent location, reports say. According to Western Union representatives, money transfer recipients can also expedite the release of their funds through the app. In a press release, WU said that recipients can input transaction details on the app before going to an agent location to pick up their funds.
The new development does not only make transactions with Western Union a lot more convenient for people who regularly make or receive international money transfers, it will also allow users to check the status of their funds. Customers looking for the nearest Western Union branch can also get assistance from the mobile app. Apart from these features, the app also records transactions.
Rodrigo Garcia Estebarena, the company’s Vice President for Central America, the Caribbean and Mexico, notes that Western Union knows that their clients “live in both the physical and digital world”, adding that the app will enhance the customer experience considering the “increased smartphone usage” in the region.
Western Union currently has 50 agent locations in Trinidad and Tobago based on data provided by the company and is among the leading international money transfer brands in the country.
